My family and I went to B&D Burgers (Savannah, Georgia, USA) for dinner last night (1/16/2016), and while I was there I also tried a beer from their draft list. I’ll come back to the beer though. We split an order of the Corn Nuggets with a side of ranch for an appetizer. For my entrée, I got the 1/3 lb. The Moon River burger which included sautéed mushrooms capped with provolone cheese along with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and onions.
The beer I had with my burger was SweetWater’s Festive Ale, an 8.1% alcohol by volume (ABV) beer from the SweetWater Brewing Company (Atlanta, Georgia, USA). Festive Ale is listed as a Winter Warmer on both BeerAdvocate.com and UNTAPPD.com, and as a Spice/Herb/Vegetable beer on ratebeer.com. This beer is part of SweetWater’s Catch & Release seasonal line of beers and is available mid October though December according to their website. Or maybe longer….
SweetWater’s website also states their Festive Ale was brewed using 2 Row, Munich, 40L, 70/80, Carapils, Chocolate, and Black malts; Centennial, US and UK Golding hops; cinnamon; and mace. Below is the commercial description for SweetWater Festive Ale:
“Just in time for the holidays is this strong cheerfully spiced seasonal ale with big complex flavors to keep you warm and toasted all season long. Brewed only one day per year, this high octane 8.6% ABV brew has a sleighload of Centennial and Golding hops and is capped with a dose of cinnamon and mace. Available from mid October till late December in 22 oz bottles, 6 Packs, 15.5 Gallon kegs, 5.2 Gallon Torpedo kegs. Unpasteurized and as with all of our brews this one is best within 90 days.” – SweetWater Brewing Company
