Last night I tried Coastal Empire’s/Burnt Hickory’s March To The Sea, another beer from the “beer stockpile” (see #618 for more stockpile information) that was formed with the help of Vince the “beer guy” from Habersham Beverage (Savannah, Georgia, USA) and my mother while I was out of the country. March To The Sea is an 11% alcohol by volume (ABV) American Barleywine Ale brewed and bottle by the Coastal Empire Beer Company (Savannah, Georgia, USA) in collaboration with the Burnt Hickory Brewery (Kennesaw, Georgia, USA).
Coastal Empire’s/Burnt Hickory’s March To The Sea came in a 1 pint 6 fl oz red wax topped bottle with March To The Sea written in big white letters across the front label. March To The Sea won a gold medal in the 2015 US Open Beer Championships under the American Barley Wine category according to Coastal Empire’s website. Below is the commercial description of Coastal Empire’s/Burnt Hickory’s March To The Sea taken from the bottle:
“General Sherman’s Infamous Inferno from Atlanta to Savannah in 1864 was not one of our great state’s finest moments. Looking to resurrect, recreate, and redefine this march, our two breweries have come up with a tactical liquid to finally put out Tecumseh’s Fire. Huzzah” – Coastal Empire’s/Burnt Hickory’s March To The Sea bottle
