#641 Coastal Empire’s Midnight In The Garden & #642 Moon River’s Boo Hag

Since this post is being written on Christmas morning I have made it a shorter one. I have also chosen to use the format that I started this blog with back in June 2013. Enjoy the throwback.

Name: Coastal Empire’s Midnight In The Garden
Brewery: Coastal Empire Beer Company
Brewery Location: Savannah – Georgia – United States
Style: Imperial Chocolate Stout
Alcohol By Volume (ABV): 11.4%
Location Tried: Gift from Kevin Haborak, founder of the Coastal Empire Beer Company, for helping them bottle their beers
Date Sampled: December 24, 2015

Commercial description:

“Our Imperial Chocolate Stout is as dark as midnight on a moonless night. It pours with a frothy brown head, a rich dark chocolate aroma, and has a velvety mouthfeel. The smooth bitter sweet chocolate backbone is complemented by hints of coffee, dark fruit, and molasses. Simply put, a chocolate lover’s dream.” – Coastal Empire Beer Company

For Christmas Eve dinner, we all went to the Moon River Brewing Company (Savannah, Georgia, USA) for food and beers last night. We split an order of Garlic Fries to start (California cut fries, tossed in fresh garlic & parmesan cheese). For my entrée I went with the 6 oz. Filet Mignon (USDA choice, hand cut daily apple cider bacon wrapped filet, cooked to your preference & glazed with a soy-black pepper sauce plus 2 sides). For sided, I got the house salad with honey mustard and the smoked gouda scalloped potatoes.

I also got a beer from Moon River’s draft list.

“The Gullah people of coastal South Carolina and Georgia tell tales of Boo Hags, haunting the Low Country in search of suitable hosts to ride. Feeding off the exhalations of its prey, she induces a state of dream-filled paralysis, leaving her victim alive, but drained of vitality, But, don’t let all that spooky talk worry you.
