My last few posts have been newly acquired beers but last night (12/22/2015) I got back to the beer stockpile (see #618 for more info) that has been waiting in my mother’s fridge since Grand Cayman. I went with Ommegang’s Game Of Thrones: Iron Throne which came in a Brewery Ommegang and Game of Thrones limited edition gift pack including the first two releases of their collaboration, Iron Throne and Take The Black Stout, along with a commemorative Game of Thrones glass. Once again, all of the beers from the “stockpile” came from Habersham Beverage (Savannah, Georgia, USA).
Ommegang’s Game Of Thrones: Iron Throne is a 6.5% alcohol by volume (ABV) Blonde Ale brewed and bottled by Brewery Ommegang (Cooperstown, New York, USA). According to their website, Iron Throne was brewed using pils, honey malt, aroma malt, and red wheat; Styrain Golding and Hallertau Spalter Select hops; lemon peel; and grains of paradise. Ommegang’s Game Of Thrones: Iron Throne was the inaugural beer for the Game of Thrones collaboration series, first released in 2013. I decided to add the style listings from the more popular beer ranking websites as well.

Brewery Ommegang has provided its customers with tasting notes on their website which I have reproduced below:
“Iron Throne has a slightly hazy golden amber hue. The head is full and fluffy. The finish is crisp, backed by a touch of spice and hops. The aroma is a bit grassy with a hint of lemon fruitiness from the lemon peel. The taste is lightly malty, rounded by honey malt sweetness.” – Brewery Ommegang
