#628 Terrapin’s So Fresh & So Green, Green

Last night (12/13/2015) instead of trying a beer from the stockpile (see post #618) I sampled one I purchased from Habersham Beverage (Savannah, Georgia, USA) this past Saturday. This was Terrapin’s So Fresh & So Green, Green, a 6.7% alcohol by volume (ABV) Fresh Hop IPA from the Terrapin Beer Company (Athens, Georgia, USA). So Fresh & So Green, Green is part of Terrapin’s Special Releases series and is brewed using a different variety of freshly picked, whole leaf, wet hops each year. The 2015 hop variety was Equinox.

Terrapin’s So Fresh & So Green, Green came in a 1 pint 3.2 fl oz aluminum can depicting a hop field being harvested. According to Terrapin’s website, So Fresh & So Green, Green was brewed using2-Row Pale, Maris Otter, Munich, Honey Malt, and Crystal 85 malts; and fresh “wet” Equinox hops flown in overnight from the Yakima Valley in Washington State. The original gravity (OG) for this beer varies by year and under IBUs (International Bitterness Units) they say “Fresh Hops Huge!”.

Below I added the commercial description for Terrapin’s So Fresh & So Green, Green:

“We brew So Fresh & So Green, Green to celebrate the glorious hop! Hops are essentially the spice of beer, adding zest and complexity, bringing the beer to life. We want to show beer lovers the impressive range of flavors and aromas that hops can impart to a beer, which is one reason we do this one as a single-hop brew and change it up every year. We also want to celebrate the agricultural side of the beer industry; drinkers may love a brewery’s beers, but they may not consider the origins of the ingredients in their liquid of choice: our farms. The hard work our hop farmers do all season long shows in the hops that come out when they harvest; using fresh hops showcases their great work. So Fresh & So Green, Green is a farm-to-glass beer that celebrates everything about the hop from its farm fresh origins to its amazing flavor profiles to its greatest fans out there sharing this beer with friends.” – Terrapin Beer Company
