I finally got back to the beer stockpile last night (12/10/2015) when I tried Terrapin’s The Walking Dead – Blood Orange IPA, a 6.7% alcohol by volume (ABV) Red India Pale Ale brewed with blood orange peel. This beer was brewed and bottled by the Terrapin Beer Company located in Athens, Georgia, USA. See post #618 for more information on the beer stockpile. The Terrapin Beer Company and The Walking Dead teamed up to create the “official beer of the undead”.
Terrapin’s The Walking Dead – Blood Orange IPA came in a 1 pint 6 fl oz (650 mL) bottle with zombies behind a central zombie turtle wearing a red checkered flannel shirt on the front label. According to Terrapin’s website, this beer was brewed using 2-Row Pale, Crystal 45, Crystal 65, and Crystal 85 malts; Summit, CTZ, Cascade, Centennial, Zythos, Calypso, Citra, and Lemondrop hops with Calypso, Citra, and Mosaic used for dry hopping; and dried blood orange peel.
The official beer of the undead exhibited 73 IBUs (International Bitterness Units) and an Original Gravity (OG) of 16.7. This beer, like the rest of the stockpile, came from Habersham Beverage in Savannah, Georgia, USA. Below I have added the commercial description available on Terrapin’s website:
“Terrapin Beer Co. and The Walking Dead have teamed up to brew the official beer of the undead. Made with blood orange peel, and a horrific amount of hops, this bloodthirsty Red IPA will have you prepared for the upcoming Zombie Apocalypse!” – Terrapin Beer Company
