Last night (10/06/2015) I tried Terrapin’s French Toasted Wake-n-Bake, the beer that started the Christmas gift beer stockpile I came home to Saturday night. It was released last winter (December I think, 2014) and has been waiting in Savannah for me ever since. See last post for more information beer stockpile. This beer, like the rest of the collection, came from Habersham Beverage in Savannah, Georgia, USA. French Toasted Wake-n-Bake is a 9.8% alcohol by volume (ABV) Coffee Oatmeal Imperial Stout brewed by the Terrapin Beer Company out of Athens, Georgia, USA.
Terrapin’s French Toasted Wake-n-Bake came in a 1 pint 6 fl oz (650 mL) brown and gold double waxed bottle (very hard to open!) with the signature off-white Reserve Series label on the front. The label consisted of the Wake-n-Bake turtle chef holding a spatula, a beer, a pot of coffee, and a pan with french toast and maple syrup. French Toasted Wake-n-Bake is listed under Special Releases on Terrapin’s website.
Also according to their website, French Toasted Wake-n-Bake was brewed using 2-Row Pale malt, Crystal 85 malt, Flaked Barley, Flaked Oats, Chocolate malt, Black malt, and Roasted Barley; Nugget hops; Jittery Joe’s coffee beans; and natural flavors. This beer exhibits 50 IBUs (International Bitterness Units) and an Original Gravity (OG) of 21.5. Below I have added the commercial description from Terrapin’s website:
“Breakfast in a bottle returns this year with one of our favorite morning time treats. “French Toasted W-n-B” combines big maple syrup notes, fresh coffee, and hints of vanilla and cinnamon to stand out among ordinary Imperial Stouts. With this much decadence packing into one bottle, this beer will get you back to the table for another round.” – Terrapin Beer Company
