Last night (09/18/2015) I was able to try Dundee’s Honey Brown Lager. I picked this beer up from Big Daddy’s Fine Wines & Spirits in Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands earlier that day. Dundee’s Honey Brown Lager is a 4.5% alcohol by volume (ABV) beer from the Dundee Brewing Company located in Rochester, New York, USA. The Dundee Brewing Company is part of the Genesee Brewing Company, which is owned by North American Breweries.
Dundee’s website doesn’t really list a style for Honey Brown Lager other than beer brewed with honey so I’ll list the styles taken from a few of the more famous beer rating websites. Both BeerAdvocate.com and Untappd.com score Honey Brown Lager as an American Amber / Red Lager. Ratebeer.com says it should be included with the Amber Lager/Vienna beers.
Dundee’s website says Honey Brown Lager was brewed using premium barley, hops, water, and pure Manitoba White Clover honey. The website also states Dundee’s Honey Brown Lager scored a 10 on the IBU scale (International Bitterness Units; used to measure alpha acid content in beer). Below I have added a small description taken from Dundee Brewing Company’s website:
“This isn’t your watered-down light beer from college. Nor is it a heavy craft beer. Honey Brown pours right smack dab in the middle. A delicious golden amber color, it’s a beer you can drink throughout the night while staying true to yourself and your evolving palate. Enjoy it with friends. Enjoy it with strangers. It doesn’t matter to us—just enjoy it.” – Dundee Brewing Company
