I picked up a 6-pack of Pyramid’s Apricot Ale from BlackBeard’s (Grand Cayman, Cayman Islands) before my family came to visit and I just got around to trying one last night (08/22/2015). Pyramid’s Apricot Ale is brewed by the Pyramid Brewing Company (Pyramid Breweries, Inc.), headquartered in Seattle, Washington, USA. The bottled claimed Seattle, Washington, USA; Portland, Oregon, USA; and Rochester, New York, USA as “home”, so who knows where this particular one was brewed.
Originally founded in 1984 as the Hart Brewery, Pyramid Breweries, Inc. acquired Portland Brewing Company in 2004 (makers of the MacTarnahan’s brand), and was acquired itself by Independent Brewers United (parent company of Magic Hat Brewing Company) in 2008, North American Breweries (Rochester, NY) in 2010, and finally Cerveceria Costa Rica, a unit of the Costa Rican company Florida Ice & Farm Co. in 2012.
According to Pyramid’s website, their Apricot Ale is a 5.1% alcohol by volume (ABV) Unfiltered Wheat Ale. It is brewed using 50% 2-row pale barley, 50% malted wheat, and Nugget hops. Pyramid’s Apricot Ale is available year-round and exhibits an IBU rating of 11 and an original gravity (OG) of 11.75° Plato.
Below I have added a small description taken from the Pyramid Brewing Company’s website:
“Apricot Ale perfectly combines the taste and aroma of fresh apricot with the smooth finish of a traditional wheat beer. It’s refreshingly unfiltered character and fruit flavor make it an ale worth savoring.” – Pyramid Brewing Company
